Diamond EDGE XT

Effortless Setup… Perfectly Tunable... Comfortable shooting!

If you have always wanted to try archery, but not sure which way to go competitively or recreationally, then the Diamond Edge XT is probably the best compound bow to enter into the sport. The Diamond EDGE XT was literally designed with you in mind.

The EDGE XT was created to be a well performing and accurate bow that is extremely affordable and more than capable to hold its own in any archery scenario, whether competitive archery or bowhunting.

Who was this made for?

The Diamond EDGE XT is an extremely adjustable bow. It is also light enough that kids can shoot it, but powerful enough that anyone can hunt with it and large enough that its a comfortable shooter for adults.

All this means that as your first bow, you can gear it up as much as you want without breaking the bank, but once you have decided where you would like to go with your archery career, it is simple enough to sell because literally anyone can shoot it, and it will always remain a great shooter!

The Experience: What It Feels Like

An exceptionally well rounded draw cycle! The Draw on this bow is extremely smooth, and it drops kindly into the valley with a comfortable holding weight ratio.

At lighter pounds, the back wall is a bit softer than most people would like, but the soft back wall is very forgiving for archers learning correct technique. As you push the draw weight up, the back wall stiffens up considerably, but the slight flex makes it a very comfortable shooter for anyone trying to perfect the back-tension release techniques!

Push the pounds to the limit and it feels like the bow received a performance upgrade! Arrows fly fast and true, and the split limb design gives a stability expected with bows three times the price. Unfortunately, the price you pay is a bit more response on the bow in the form of vibration and a bit more noise.

Does that disqualify the bow in any way? Absolutely not! The bow is still quieter than most big brand flagship bows of a few years ago!

Another surprising aspect is that even though the rest and sight is decidedly entry level, if you spend the time to set them up carefully, the setup is surprisingly accurate out to a 40yd distance. Stacking arrows and slapping carbon like any other bow on the line!

What’s Under the Hood: The Tech That Matters
Wide Draw Lenght Range

The EDGE XT can be set up for a youngster as short as 19″ draw length (8-9 year old) or as long as 31″ (Typical 6ft-something adult man will draw between 29″-31″) This versatility ensures that the bow keeps it’s value… either to pass on to younger kids in the family as they come into the sport, or for resale.

Adjustable Draw Weight Range

The Split Limb technology has allowed the EDGE XT to maintain a well balanced upper Draw Weight of 70lbs (great for hunting). Many competitions has an upper limit of 60lbs but if you are slightly smaller in stature, or younger 😉, the bow will go down to 20lbs.

Our 10yr old tester was happily shooting at 25lbs and she was convinced that she should be able to go to 28 or 30lbs!

Both Draw length and Draw weight can be adjusted with a standard archery allenkey set. No extra specialised equipment needed!

Split Limb, Dual Yoke Tuning

Unlike other bows aimed at this market, Diamond decided to leave the Dual Yoke system on the cams. That means that a specialist bow technician can fine-tune your bow for pinpoint arrow flight to get the absolute best in bowhunting arrow penetration and broadhead tuning as well as bare-shaft tunable target accuracy. Again, features expected in much higher end bows.

What Shooters Are Saying

Archers across various platforms—magazine testers, video reviewers, and real-world users—are consistently impressed:

“Not only is this bow amazing from the start, but it’s amazingly customizable!”

“The shots are smooth and forgiving. Although this bow isn’t boasting crazy fast speeds compared to some other bows it has plenty enough to hunt with and is a very solid and well designed bow with a great price tag.”

Who It’s For

The EDGE XT is built for:

  • New Archers getting into the sport.
  • Women looking for a lighter hunting bow, but still accurate and tunable
  • Growing Youth Archers looking for a bow that is adjustable as they grow, without having to pay for extra equipment to be able to adjust.
  • Recreational archers that still want a quality bow that feels like a much more expensive bow.
What was our setup?
Bow:
  • 25lbs, 55lbs & 60lbs Draw weight
  • 22″, 27.5″ and 29” Draw Length
  • RAK Kit Octane Rest
  • RAK Kit Octane 3-pin Sight
Arrows:
  • Gold Tip Black Label 350 @502gr
  • 340 Mayhem
  • 500 GT Warrior

We set the timing of the bow as we took it out of the box.

After that, we changed draw length and draw weight on the range, and pulled the multi-angle peep up and down to fit whomever was shooting.

We used both wrist and hinge releases, and shot out to 40yds.

Final Notes

Diamond Archery Logo - Transparent BackgroundYou will find the Diamond EDGE XT on the competition line at many school tournaments because of it’s value as a package and upgradability, should you want to push the envelope without breaking the bank.

As a coach, the various versions leading up to this model (and now, including this model) has shown up on a very frequent basis in my classes and on the practice range. The bow has become better with every iteration.

Unfortunately the ease of adjustment has made people feel that it is a “junior” bow or a toy bow, which it very definitely is not. I have seen many of them damaged because of lack of care. My only conclusion is that because the price is so affordable, the owners simply do not take care when adjusting the bow or bother to service the bow as it is supposed be done.

Regardless, this bow is a shooter. Have it set up well, learn how to adjust it, and service it like you would any other bow or piece of archery equipment, and you will have a long a happy relationship with this bow! The biggest compliment to this bow is that it is such an enjoyable shooter that owners frequently upgrade to high end competition bows or hunting bows because of thesimple joy of learning archery and gaining easy and early success with the Diamond EDGE XT!
